Helping your teen navigate who they are and what they stand for
Teen therapy in santa monica
Relationship-based. Empathy-driven.
I know how delicate the word “therapy” can feel for you and your teen. Here’s what it looks like to work with me.
I’ll develop a relationship with your teen so they can open up in a safe, supportive setting.
I'll help you gain a better understanding of your teen (while maintaining their privacy and trust).
I can help shift perspectives for you both, by helping you better understand each other.
A third party your teen can trust
With academic anxieties, social pressures to fit in, and their desire to develop their own identity, teens have a lot of obstacles to navigate. Having a neutral party who can provide support is crucial for both adolescents and their caregivers.
Behaviors I can address:
Anxiety and stress
Depression
Grief
Family conflict
Academic stress
Loneliness and difficulty with relationships
Low self esteem
Behavioral problems
Transitional times in life
Identity questions
What does teen therapy look like?
talk therapy
Most adolescents benefit from a confidential and non-judgmental space where they can express their thoughts and feelings. Through thoughtful conversations, we explore emotions, identify strengths, and develop coping strategies to navigate life's ups and downs.
EMDR Therapy
EMDR is a powerful form of therapy that can help teens overcome a variety of emotional and psychological challenges. EMDR therapy works by helping the brain to reprocess traumatic memories and negative experiences, allowing individuals to move past these experiences and heal from emotional wounds. The therapy is designed to be age-appropriate and uses techniques such as sand tray and art therapy to help teens feel safe and comfortable during the session.
Play Therapy
For younger teens, play is a language they may still speak. Through play, children can communicate, process emotions, and build resilience. These sessions are designed to be both therapeutic and fun, creating an environment where healing can happen naturally.
Expressive arts
Whether it's through painting, drawing, music, or movement, teens can explore and communicate their emotions in ways words sometimes can’t. Expressive arts therapy encourages self-expression and individualization.
